Umpiring

We build baseball talent...Players and Umpires!

Becoming a Certified Umpire

Baseball Ontario offers an umpire certification program. It is a multi-level system that anyone can complete! More info about Baseball Ontario’s levels can be found here: https://www.playoba.ca/umpire-levels

Leaside Baseball Association requires all umpires doing Rep and Select games to be certified. Part of the certification is a series of online modules, and LBA will be hosting a Baseball Ontario Level 1 & 2 Umpire Camp this year. All registration for certification can be completed on Baseball Ontario’s ONDeck platform. Please note all LBA umpires must be at least 12 years of age as of December 31, 2023 (born 2012 or earlier). Adults are welcome. A friendly reminder that Level 1's and 2's must complete training annually.

In order to umpire with Leaside Baseball this year, there are two things that will need to be completed:

  • 2024 LBA UMPIRE APPLICATION FORM - *only people who complete this form will be contacted regarding the 2024 season*
  • BASEBALL ONTARIO CERTIFICATION - we require any umpires wishing to do Rep and Select games to be certified by Baseball Ontario. To register, you will need to have or create a profile with Baseball Ontario, and then you can learn more about how to register here. The Umpire Development Camp can be completed wherever/whenever is convenient to you. Once you register, we will send you a link to complete payment. This year's fees are $25 for Level 1 and $45 for Level 2.
