House League registrations fill up quickly every year! Due to field permit and resource limitations, we will not be able to accommodate all interested families. As such, we recommend registering quickly after the registration window opens to ensure your child's spot!

 

SCHEDULE

Teams will play twelve (12) games in the regular season, with up to two (2) games per week starting the first week of May to the last week of June.  Games will be scheduled on Monday nights 6PM, Saturdays and Sundays 9AM, 11AM, and 1PM for 2 hours. 

Playoffs start on Labour Day and proceed through the first week of September and into the next weekend.  Best effort is made to reschedule rain make-up dates as required.

FORMAT

Games are 7 innings long, no new inning is started after 1 hour and 45 minutes from first pitch and have a 2 hour game curfew.

Teams may be provided optional practice slots depending on field availability.

SUMMARY OF KEY RULES

  • Teams consist of 12-13 players.
  • Nine (9) players play on the field at a time; no player will miss two consecutive innings of defensive play.
  • Each player on a team bats in-order each game.
  • Players may pitch no more than 4 innings per game.
  • Scoring is maintained and standings are kept.
  • Games generally follow the Rules of Baseball.
  • Per inning and per game mercy rules apply.
  • A team requires a minimum of 7 players for an official game to be played (9 players for playoff games).

Only credit card payments accepted.

 

UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT

The LBA provides jerseys, pants, belts and hats for all players.  The LBA also provides all required baseball equipment including balls, bases, bats, helmets and catcher's gear. Players are to bring appropriate running shoes (for turf or diamond) or baseball cleats (diamond only) and their baseball glove. An athletic cup is required for age 8 and older.

Players may bring their own baseball bat but must share it with their teammates. Players may bring their own batting helmet and do not need to share it.

 

REP AND SELECT PLAYERS

Due to limited space in our program, and to try to ensure fairness, we do not accept players that are currently on Rep or Select teams in Leaside or elsewhere in Toronto on spring house league teams.  Players that play Select baseball are permitted on fall house league teams only. Players who would like to play house league that have previously played Rep or Select baseball are eligible for both spring and fall house leagues.

6U Development and 7U Select teams who participate in RookieBall House League are not eligible for House League playoffs and Championship.

 

FRIEND REQUESTS

If your child would like to play with a friend, please indicate their name in the Friend Request box during registration. Each friend request must be mutual (i.e. the friend must also request your child). We will only consider one mutual friend request. This is to allow us the best opportunity to balance teams fairly.

 

COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS

We are always looking for enthusiastic and engaged parents and older siblings to serve as coaches and/or volunteers. If you are interested please indicate so on your registration form. Team coaches will receive discounted registration in the Leaside Baseball Development Clinic for the current season. Coaches will be on the same team as their child.

Coaches are principally responsible for managing the team equipment bag, coordinating lineups, player positions and snack schedules. Coaches will be invited to attend a Leaside Baseball training day where we will share the tools and skills to make you a successful coach and see that you get as much fun out of the season as the players.

 

USE OF FEES

The registration fee covers uniforms, team and game equipment, umpire and instructor costs, insurance, field permits and administrative expenses, as well as contributing to the Leaside Baseball financial assistance and capital improvement programs.

 

SCHEDULING

The team rosters and schedules are released 2 to 4 weeks prior to the start of the season. The spring season starts in the first week of May until the last week of June. The fall season starts the first week of September until the middle of October.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

In the event you need to cancel the player’s registration, a refund or credit may be available. The Leaside Baseball Association reserves the right to grant exceptions to the policy stated below.

If written cancellation notice is made by February 15, a refund is available. Eligible refunds will be issued in the format the registration fee was paid and are subject to a $25 administrative fee (per session/per player) deducted from the total allowable refund. Refunds may take up to 4 weeks for processing.

If the written cancellation notice is made by April 1, a credit is available. Credits are valid for one calendar year and may only be applied to Leaside Baseball house leagues, camps or clinics.

If the written cancellation notice is made after April 1, neither a refund or credit are available.
