Player Code of Conduct
The Leaside Baseball Association (LBA) exists to provide players the opportunity to develop their skills and
passion for baseball in a fun, safe and supportive environment and that values respect and good sportsmanship.
As such, the LBA will not tolerate behaviour by anyone in our association that does not support this principle.
As a member of the Leaside Baseball Association, I promise to follow this Code of Conduct while representing my
team and the LBA at any team event:
- Remember that baseball is for FUN. Whether we win or lose, I will enjoy playing the game of baseball.
- Respect teammates, coaches, opponents, spectators, and umpires.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship by supporting my teammates, respecting umpires’ judgements, respecting my coaches’ decisions, following the rules of baseball, and carry a positive attitude.
- Be the best player I can be by being prepared, dependable, disciplined, and to try my best at all times.
- Show respect to and be appreciative of the volunteer coaches and officials who give their time andenergy to our team and league.
- Conduct myself in a manner that positively represents myself, my family, my team and the Leaside Baseball Association.
I understand that if I don’t do these things, the Coach may choose to remove me from a game or practice. If I
continue to fail to do these things, I may be suspended from the team.
Parent Code of Conduct
The Leaside Baseball Association (LBA) exists to provide players the opportunity to develop their skills and

As a member of the Leaside Baseball Association, I promise to follow this Code of Conduct while supporting my
child and their team at any team event:
- Remember the players are here for their enjoyment and that this is a youth sport. I will encourage themin a positive manner.
- Be a positive role model for my child by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positivesupport for all players, coaches, officials and spectators.
- Teach my child to play by the rules, to show respect and good sportsmanship, and that doing their bestis more important than winning.
- Emphasize to my child that they must respect umpires’ judgements at all times, and serve as a rolemodel of such behaviour.
- Discourage anything that might endanger the health and well being of players, coaches, or otherspectators.
- Show appreciation to the coaches and officials who give their time and energy to the players and theleague. Support volunteers whenever possible to help them work to the best of their ability for your child.
- I will be supportive and involved with the team but refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team or have been explicitly asked by one of the official coaches of the team.
- Advise the coach of my child’s availability in a timely manner, understanding that missing a practice or game could result in altered playing time or position.
- Advise coaches of any information relevant to the safety of my child or others.
- Conduct myself in an appropriate manner to represent myself, my family, and the Leaside Baseball Association.
I have read and understand the above statements and agree to conduct myself in a manner consistent with this
Code of Conduct. I understand that if I don’t do these things, the Coach and/or the LBA may choose to restrict
my attendance at any team or LBA activity or event.
Coaching Staff Code of Conduct
The Leaside Baseball Association (LBA) exists to provide players the opportunity to develop their skills and
passion for baseball in a fun, safe and supportive environment and that values respect and good sportsmanship.
As such, the LBA will not tolerate behaviour by anyone in our association that does not support this principle.
As a coach with the Leaside Baseball Association, I promise to follow this Code of Conduct while supporting my
my team at any team event as stated below:
For every athlete, I will:
- Treat them with dignity and respect regardless of any personal trait, including athletic ability.
- Pursue their best interests/safety.
- Encourage them to set goals and have a plan to achieve them, do their best, and seek improvement.
- Help them improve their athletic skills, physical condition, knowledge of the game, and ability to control their emotions and self-esteem.
- Hold them accountable for their actions on and off the field.
As a coach, I will:
- Promote positive values such as honesty, teamwork, fair play, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
- Be a positive role model. This includes having a professional image with regard to personal appearance, language and habits; I will not smoke or be under the influence of alcohol/drugs in the presence of the kids.
- Be dependable, self-disciplined, honest and commit to continuous development of my coaching skills.
- Show respect for players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators. I will refrain from arguments or demeaning conduct and instead seek a constructive solution.
I have read and understand the above statements and agree to conduct myself in a manner consistent with this Code of Conduct. I understand that if I don’t do these things, the LBA reserves the right to review my coaching status with the association.
