The baseball season ended victoriously for the 2011 AA Leaside Leafs, with a hard-fought win against a tough East York squad in the Toronto championships. After losing to East York earlier in the tournament, Leaside had to beat them twice in a row on the final day to secure victory.

Neither win was easy, requiring pitching heroics and clutch batting from top to bottom of the lineup. The first championship game was won in dramatic walk-off fashion while the second saw the team hang onto a one-run lead in the bottom of the final inning despite an opposing runner menacing from third base.

Much credit to the players and coaches who practiced hard and learned/taught pitching this year despite a backdrop of pandemic restrictions. And special recognition to Jason Richey who captained two teams to TBA glory this year — also the 2013 AA team!
