After an undefeated regular season, the Leaside Leafs AA Rookieball squad cruised into the playoffs looking to carry on their winning ways. But standing between them and their coveted city championship was the tough competition of the East York Bulldogs.

With the finals being a best of 3 series to decide the TBAs, Leaside came out of the gates swinging in game 1. The boys dug very deep to combine explosive offence and flawless defence to capitalize early and often, cruising to 10 – 2 victory that truly showcased all the players hard work and dedication.

Game 2 was a different story…after a scoreless first, Leaside scored twice in the top of the second while EY countered with a run in the bottom of the inning. From there both teams showcased an amazing display of defence, resulting in the 2-1 score all the way till the top of the 7th. That was when Leaside broke it wide open with back to back deep hits. The team combined for 4 runs and hung on for a 6-3 win to take the city championship.

After an incredible season and being finalists in two tournaments this year, the win was very well deserved and the boys carried it with pride and class. A full team effort!

Now they look to continue their momentum into the OBAs. Good luck Leaside!
