About the Elite Baseball Camp

The Leaside Baseball Elite Camp helps baseball players take their game to the next level.

Our seasoned instructional staff has trained hundreds of players to be competitive on the field, and help them aspire to reach their full potential.  The Leaside Baseball Elite Camp is specifically designed to develop individual hitting, pitching and fielding skills, as well as strength and general conditioning.  Additionally, the program promotes holistic development, good sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork and respect for opponents.

The camp is open to boys and girls that are on either Elite or Rep baseball teams, ages 12 to 16 years old (2003 to 2007 birth years).

If you are over the age of 16 and are interested in our programming, there may be opportunities for you to be a counsellor-in- training (CIT).  Please contact us if you are interested.

The Elite Camp operates weekly from the first week of July to the end of the third week of August at Howard Talbot Park near Eglinton and Bayview Avenues in Leaside, Toronto.

Hours of operation are 1:00 PM to 3:30PM -- however there are options available for 12 and 13 year old players to attend the General Baseball Camp in the morning, attend the Elite Baseball Camp in the afternoon, and receive extended care to 5PM in the evening.

Expert Leadership & Counsellors

We have an exceptional staff of experienced ex-professional and collegiate baseball instructors.  Our staff have standard First Aid and CPR certifications, and have gone through a National Background Check.    Campers are grouped in low coach-to-camper ratios.

Our lead baseball instructor, Todd Betts, is a former 20 year professional baseball player. Todd was drafted into the Cleveland Indians organization and had stops playing at the A, AA and AAA levels for Florida, Seattle, Boston and the Yankees.  Todd also played in Japan the IBL and on the 2004 Canadian Olympic Team in Athens.  The Elite Camp and its underlying programming was founded on Todd’s extensive experience and passion for both playing and coaching baseball.

Todd also coaches the Leaside Leafs Elite 17U team.

Our lead program administrator, Peter Nash, was a varsity pitcher for the University of Toronto Blues.  Peter is a certified National Certified Coaching Program (NCCP) facilitator and has lead over 20 workshops on behalf of Baseball Ontario.  He has also worked as a facilitator for the Jays Care Rookie League and their Reviving Inner-City (RBI) Program.  Peter has extensive experience designing periodized strength, speed, throwing, hitting, skill and athletic programming.

Peter also coaches the Leaside Leafs Elite 18U team.

Our senior instructor, Wellington Francisco, has an accomplished resume coaching both children and professionals in Canada and the Dominican Republic.  Wellington operated the Wellington Francisco Baseball Academy in Puerto Plata over the past three years and has trained various MLB and MiLB players, including Carlos Martinez.

Wellington was also the Pitching MVP at the 2000 Little League World Series in Williamsport.
