Junior Rookie Ball players born in 2009 Location: Rolph Rd. and Bennington Heights Schools
Time: Wednesdays 6:15pm -7:30pm (Parents and players may start showing up at 5:45pm to warm up
Registration: Late December opening
Start Date: Wednesday May 3rd * Practices will be on April 20th and 27th depending on coaches availability
Season: May-June Structure: 6 Teams of 10-12 players each (but for the players in the development program it runs all year round)
WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEER COACHES! There will be a coaching clinic for parents in Early April for parents and coaches! We highly recommend that you attend!
*RULES FOR JUNIOR ROOKIEBALL
-pitching machine must be set between 30-35mph
-players will be given 5 pitches and if they foul the 5th pitch they will get 1 last pitch.
- a no pitch will be a ball that is fails to reach home plate or is over the players head.. (player must not swing for a no pitch)
-A player will be called out on a strikout if he/she misses the 5th pitch.
*Throwing the bat will be a warning at first and then an automatic out for a second time.
-Play is stopped when the runners are stopped on a base or an infield raises their hands and yells TIME
-Only infielders can call TIME. outfielders must relay the ball into the infield to stop play.
- Once TIME is called, baserunners must return to the previous base if they are not already halfway (Umpires discretion)
-Overthrows to first base will advance the runner to 2nd.
-3 outs or a 5 run mercy will result in a switch
-Curfew is no new inning begins after an hour and 15 minutes from the first pitch
-Umpires will inform teams of last inning
-In the last inning there will be a 10 run mercy rule for teams to catchup and it also makes the games very interesting.
- any injuries in play will be an automatic dead ball and runners must stop at one base.
- hitting the pitching machine is an automatic single.
-Be in charge of your teams uniforms, pants, hats etc.
-Must be in charge of the team bag
-Try to switch your infields as many times as possible.
*NEW - Please have a catcher ready when up to bat to make transition faster.
- Keep scores and email them to me at email@example.com
- Inform me if you are having low turnouts or need more players
- If you know you will be missing a week, you must give your team bag to another parent!!
